Professor Maren Kleine-Brueggeney is professor and clinical lead for paediatric cardiac anaesthesia at the “Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité” in Berlin, Germany.

She trained in anaesthesia, intensive care and prehospital medicine in Switzerland. This was followed by subspecialisation in cardiac, general paediatric and paediatric cardiac anaesthesia in London, and a consultant position in paediatric and paediatric cardiac anaesthesia in Zurich, Switzerland.

Besides paediatric cardiac anaesthesia, airway management has always been her interest, which she followed through clinical research on system-inherent issues related to airway management and various airway management techniques such as high flow oxygenation, supraglottic airway devices, videolaryngoscopes and the use of ultrasound for front of neck access.
